Seawalls, Docks & Boat Ramps in Burlington, WI

Burlington, WI is about about 25 minutes from our Elkhorn shop. We build and replace seawalls, docks, piers and boat ramps for residential and commercial waterfront across Southeast Wisconsin lake country.

Burlington, Racine County about 25 minutes from Elkhorn

Burlington is a river and lake town, with Browns Lake and Bohners Lake to its north and the Fox River running through it. That mix of lake shoreline and river frontage gives waterfront owners here a wider range of shoreline types than a single-lake town.

Being in Racine County is what sets Burlington apart for shoreline projects. The shoreland zoning office that reviews setbacks and shoreline standards is the Racine County office, a different county from the Walworth lakes to the west.

Burlington

Lakes and the Fox River

Browns Lake and Bohners Lake are the residential lake shorelines around Burlington, where seawalls and piers take the winter ice each year. The Fox River adds river frontage to the mix, which brings its own current and bank conditions to shoreline work.

A wall on Browns Lake and a bank project on the Fox River are different builds, planned around different water. We assess what is in front of the property before planning anything.

We handle seawall construction and replacement, dock and pier building, and boat ramps on the lakes, and bank and shoreline work on the Fox River. For existing walls, we assess whether repair or full replacement is the right call. See our service pages for how each project works.

Burlington Shoreline Questions

Burlington Marine Construction FAQ

Which county handles zoning for my Burlington shoreline?

Racine County. Burlington is in Racine County, so the shoreland zoning office that reviews setbacks and shoreline standards is the Racine County office, a different county from the Walworth lakes to the west.

Can you work on the Fox River as well as the lakes?

Yes. The Fox River brings its own current and bank conditions, which makes a river project different from a lake wall. We assess what is in front of the property, lake or river, before planning anything.

My Browns Lake seawall is showing cracks, what should I do?

Take photos of any cracking, leaning or washout and send them to us. Ice shove and freeze-thaw are the usual cause on Browns Lake. We will assess whether the wall can be repaired or needs full replacement.

Can you build a dock on Bohners Lake?

Yes. We plan a pier around water depth, bottom conditions and how your family uses the waterfront. Many piers that meet the state's standards do not need an individual permit, but rules vary by lake.

Do I need a permit for shoreline work in Burlington?

Work on the navigable water, including the Fox River, is regulated by the Wisconsin DNR, and Racine County runs shoreland zoning. Read our permits guide, then confirm the requirements for your property.
