Seawalls, Docks & Boat Ramps in Delavan, WI

Delavan, WI is about about 10 minutes from our Elkhorn shop. We build and replace seawalls, docks, piers and boat ramps for residential and commercial waterfront across Southeast Wisconsin lake country.

Delavan, Walworth County about 10 minutes from Elkhorn

Delavan sits on the north shore of Delavan Lake, one of the most heavily developed residential lakes in Walworth County. The shoreline is lined with homes that have been there for decades, and many of them still rely on seawalls and piers that were built a generation ago.

That makes Delavan Lake a replacement and repair lake more than a new-build lake. When an older wall starts to lean or lose fill, or a pier has taken one too many winters, the question is usually how to rebuild the shoreline, not whether to add to it.

Delavan

When an Older Wall Has to Come Out

On a developed lake like Delavan, the seawalls we see most are existing ones reaching the end of their life. Ice shove and freeze-thaw push them lakeward, water washes fill out from behind, and caps settle and gap. We assess whether a wall can be repaired or needs full replacement, and plan the replacement to protect the lawn and structures behind it.

Replacement on a tight residential shoreline means planning access, removing the old wall, and rebuilding without damaging the property next door. It is a different project from a new wall on open shore.

Piers and Ramps on Delavan Lake

Older piers on Delavan Lake often need to be rebuilt after years of winter strain. We plan a replacement pier around water depth, bottom conditions and how a family uses the waterfront. For boat ramps, slope, base and the underwater end of the ramp are what hold up over time.

See our dock and pier and boat ramp pages for how each project works.

Permits and Walworth County Zoning

Delavan Lake is navigable water regulated by the Wisconsin DNR, and Walworth County runs the shoreland zoning office. Repairing or replacing an existing wall may follow a different process than a new one. Read our Wisconsin shoreline permits guide, then confirm what your property needs.

Delavan Shoreline Questions

Delavan Marine Construction FAQ

My Delavan Lake seawall is old, should I repair or replace it?

It depends on how far the wall has moved. We look for leaning, cracking, gaps at the joints, fill washing out, and sinkholes in the lawn behind the wall. If the wall is still sound, repair may work. If fill is escaping, full replacement is usually the safer call.

Can you replace a wall on a tight Delavan Lake lot without damaging my neighbor's property?

Replacement on a developed shoreline is planned around access and the lot lines on both sides. We remove the old wall and rebuild with the neighboring property in mind. It is a different project from a new wall on open shore.

Does replacing an existing seawall need the same permit as a new one?

Not always. Repairing or replacing an existing wall may follow a different process than building a new vertical seawall. Read our permits guide, then confirm the requirements for your property with the Wisconsin DNR and Walworth County.

My Delavan Lake pier did not survive the winter, can you rebuild it?

Yes. We plan a replacement pier around water depth, bottom conditions and how your family uses the waterfront. Many piers that meet the state's standards do not need an individual permit, but rules vary by lake.

Do you build boat ramps on Delavan Lake?

We do. Slope, base and the underwater end of the ramp are what hold up against ice and wave action. Ramps on navigable water typically need a DNR permit, so we plan with that in mind.
