Boat Ramp Construction in Southeast Wisconsin
Private and commercial boat launch ramps built with the right slope, base and underwater transition for Southeast Wisconsin lake country.
Boat Ramp Construction in Southeast Wisconsin
A good boat ramp makes getting on and off the water simple. A bad one makes it a chore, and a ramp that washes out makes it a problem every season. We build private boat launch ramps for lake properties and commercial ramps, planned around the grade, the base and the waterline.
Why slope matters. A ramp needs the right slope. Too steep and the trailer runs away from you at the water. Too shallow and you are backing halfway across the lake to float the boat off. The grade also has to stay consistent as it goes under the water, with no sudden drop or lip at the waterline that hangs up a trailer. We set the slope for the boats you launch and the shoreline you have.
Why the base matters. A ramp is only as good as what is under it. The base has to carry the weight of a truck and trailer without settling or pumping mud. On a soft shoreline, the base is the difference between a ramp that lasts and one that starts to dip and crack after a few seasons. We build the base for the conditions on your lake.
Why the underwater end matters. The part of the ramp that disappears under the water takes the most abuse. Wave action works the edge, and ice can lift and shove the underwater end the same way it works a seawall. The transition where the ramp meets the lakebed has to be tied in so it does not scour out and leave a drop-off. We build the underwater end to hold up to use and to Wisconsin winters.
Ice and wave action on ramps. Like any structure at the waterline, a ramp faces ice shove and freeze-thaw every winter and wave action all season. A ramp built without that in mind will show it fast, with cracked panels, a scoured toe, or a lip forming at the waterline. We build for the conditions that come with Southeast Wisconsin lakes.
Permits. Boat ramps and grading on the bank typically need DNR approval, because ramps on navigable water usually need a DNR permit. We plan, permit and schedule every ramp around those rules. For the full picture, read our Wisconsin shoreline permits guide.
