What Does a Seawall, Dock or Boat Ramp Cost?

There is no single price for a shoreline. Here is what honestly shapes the cost of a project in Southeast Wisconsin lake country.

The Honest Answer

Why We Don't Publish Prices

We do not publish prices or ranges, and we do not quote a number without seeing your shoreline. A seawall, dock or ramp is not a product with a sticker price. It is a build shaped by your lake, your shoreline and your conditions, and those are different on every property. A number given without a site visit is a guess, and a guess is not useful to you.

What we can do is be honest about what drives the cost. These are the factors that change what a project costs, and they are the reason a site visit comes first.

Length of Shoreline

A longer seawall, dock or ramp means more material, more time on the water, and more work. Length is one of the biggest drivers of any shoreline project.

Water Depth

Deeper water changes the support design and the amount of material below the waterline. A wall in deeper water or a dock over deeper water takes more to build.

Bottom Conditions

Firm sand, soft muck, gravel or rock each change how we set supports and how the base behaves. A soft bottom means more work to get a stable structure.

Access for Equipment

Tight lots, slopes, trees and distance from the road change how we stage equipment and material, by land or by water. Hard access adds steps to the project.

Removing an Old Structure

Taking out an old seawall, dock or ramp before building a new one adds steps. The failed fill and the old structure both have to be dealt with.

Permit Requirements

Work on navigable water is regulated by the Wisconsin DNR. Permit review time is part of the project and is built into the schedule.

Materials Chosen

Different materials carry different material and labor profiles. We recommend the right fit for your shoreline and your conditions.

Timing in the Season

This is a scheduled construction business and the season is short on Wisconsin lakes. Timing can affect how a project comes together.

How a Quote Works

From Call to Written Quote

  1. 1

    Call

You call us or send your project details through the form. We talk through what you are seeing on your shoreline and what you want to build.

  2. 2

    Site Visit

We visit your shoreline and assess the conditions, the water depth, the bottom, the access and any existing structure. This is where the real numbers come from.

  3. 3

    Written Quote

We put together a written quote based on what we actually saw on your shoreline, not a guess. You know what the project is and what it involves.
